 Ever heard the term Factory Farming?  As defined in Wikipedia, Factory farming is the practice of raising farm animals in confinement at high stocking density, where a farm operates as a factory.  The goal of the factory farm is to systematically produce the highest output at the lowest cost.  But the hidden costs to human and animal are huge. Read on  to learn more about factory farming and watch the award winning animated film series called The Meatrix.


The crowded living conditions, unnatural diet and use of drugs to stimulate livestock growth create a perfect environment for the growth of disease and pestilence.  As a result, factory farms have to use a constant dose of antibiotics and pesticides to keep disease at bay. 

The factory farm animals' diet and crowded living conditions make for extremely unhealthy meat that is loaded with bad fat, lacking in good fats and also poses a much higher risk for E. Coli infection.  The negative consequences associated with factory farming are wide spread and well documented.  But you have to want to learn more about where your food comes from.  meatrix
